Western Dressage & Vaquero Horsemanship

Cornerstone Horsemanship is starting a 5 month study course in western dressage and vaquero horsemanship. Our Study Group is limited to a small group of people 5 to 6 riders who are willing to make the commitment for 5 months and to do the necessary work. We will meet twice a month, the first session of each month the participants receives a lesson plan that outlines the new subjects to be covered and the riding/ground work homework to be completed before the next month. The second session of the month is to help each rider improve or gain better knowledge of the work. This course covers the bio-mechanics of the horse, body positions for riding and how to teach your horse, from the ground and from the saddle, all of the movements and exercises. 

Topics to be covered…  

1st Month-
Purity of the Gaits, Riding with Contact, Lateral Flexion, Riding Round Circles 
2nd Month- 
Collection, Riding a Straight Line, Shoulder In & Shoulder Out, Leg Yield  
3rd Month- 
Travers (Hip In), Turn on the Forehand, Stop Back Up  
4th Month- 
Cantering Counter Bend Circles, Backing in Arc, Combining Gymnastic Movements  
5th Month- 
Turn on the Haunches, Turn Arounds, Lead Changes

Ranch Versatility Clinics with Peggy Bond-Heath

Join us for a day of Ranch Versatility and learning what American Stock Horse (ASHA) & Western State Stock Horse (WSSH) are all about. In this 4 part clinic series Peggy Bond-Heath (ASHA Judge & WSSH clinician) will cover everything from national to local memberships, divisions, equipment, classes, what is the judge looking for, what should you wear, scoring, individual and all around strategies.
